Scope of Practice
The Institute of Operative & Alchemical Magic provides structured education and training in traditional operative magical systems. This Scope of Practice defines the boundaries, intent, and limitations of the instruction offered and clarifies the professional activities for which students may be prepared upon completion of training.
Nature of Instruction
Instruction offered by the Institute is educational and training based. Training focuses on the study, practice, and disciplined application of traditional operative and alchemical magical systems as cultural, historical, and experiential practices. Instruction is designed to develop competence, discernment, and responsibility within the scope of the system taught.
Training does not constitute medical, psychological, therapeutic, legal, or financial services. The Institute does not diagnose, treat, or cure physical or mental health conditions, nor does it provide counseling or psychotherapy.
Scope of Practice for Trained Practitioners
Students who complete Institute training and are awarded a Certificate of Completion may be considered trained within the scope of the system taught by the Institute. Within this scope, trained practitioners may engage in personal practice, teaching, or educational demonstration of the methods learned, provided such activities are represented accurately and ethically.
Trained practitioners may describe themselves as having completed training in Traditional Operative Enochian Magic through the Institute of Operative & Alchemical Magic. Any public representation must clearly state that such training is educational in nature and does not confer licensure, medical authority, or regulated professional status.
Permitted Activities
Within the educational scope of the training, practitioners may engage in personal ritual practice, scholarly study, teaching of educational material, and facilitation of learning experiences consistent with the methods taught. Activities may include instructional demonstrations, guided study, and experiential practice presented as spiritual, cultural, or esoteric education.
Practitioners are responsible for ensuring that all activities are conducted with informed consent, personal responsibility, and appropriate boundaries.
Activities Outside the Scope of Training
Practitioners trained by the Institute are not qualified through this training to provide medical treatment, psychological therapy, counseling, diagnosis, legal advice, or financial guidance. Practitioners may not represent Institute training as a substitute for licensed or regulated professional services.
The Institute does not authorize graduates to claim professional licensure, certification for clinical practice, or authority over the health or wellbeing of others.
Client and Student Responsibility
Any individual engaging with a practitioner trained by the Institute does so voluntarily and with personal responsibility for their own choices and outcomes. Practitioners are expected to encourage clients or students to seek appropriate professional support when issues fall outside the scope of educational or spiritual practice.
Practitioners must avoid making guarantees, claims of cure, or assurances of specific outcomes.
Ethical Representation
Practitioners are expected to represent their training accurately, ethically, and without exaggeration. Misrepresentation of training, misuse of methods, or engagement in harmful or coercive practices is contrary to the principles of the Institute.
The Institute reserves the right to revoke recognition of training or certification if it is determined that a practitioner is acting outside this Scope of Practice or in a manner inconsistent with ethical standards.
Limitations of Certification
Certificates of Completion issued by the Institute acknowledge completion of training and demonstrated readiness within the scope of the system taught. Certification does not confer professional licensure, regulatory authority, or recognition outside the educational context of the Institute.
Conclusion
The Institute of Operative & Alchemical Magic is committed to responsible education, ethical transmission, and clear professional boundaries. This Scope of Practice exists to protect students, practitioners, and the integrity of the systems taught while ensuring clarity for regulatory bodies and the public.
